56. Venice Biennale Hungarian Pavilon
Cseke Szilárd’s installation titled “Sustainable Identities” is representing Hungary during the 56th Venice Biennale between May 9th, 2015 and November 22nd, which this time, invited the artists to investigate the possible future world visions. Cseke Szilárd’s interactive work in this thematic system deals with questions revolving around identity-formation and sustainability. The space-installation fixed from wall to wall, in the dense web-work of foil tubes, white balls are propelled by ventilators. A breathing foil-cushion forms a part of the space-installation, which, with its constant inflation and deflation, depicts the system’s sustainable center. For the interior courtyard through university participation a place for personal reflection is envisioned that draws visitors to express their opinions regarding ones identitity. The elements of the inner courtyard visitors can hold in their hands seven different sizes of ball-shaped chalk and mark the fact of their momentarily transforming identity on blackboards.
